Recent News – August 2016
Hello everyone, a number of news items have happened since my last update…
Bottom of the Hill Restaurant and Tavern has opened in the old Pho Saigon location in Leonardtown.  I’ve yet to go there but reviews seem mixed thus far.  It sounds like, as with most new restaurants, they had a number of kinks with service that they’re still trying to figure out.
La Rive Breton didn’t open on the advertised July 14 open date, citing maintenance issues and paperwork that’s delayed things.  No updated opening date has been posted yet, but hopefully soon.  Considering how long Cafe Des Artistes had been there it wouldn’t be surprising if the renovation exposed a number of major issues that had to be fixed.
Tobacco Barn Distillery posted on their Facebook that they’ve made and shipped their first batch of rum, “Big Z” Rum, which is a navy style rum that commemorates Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, Jr.  They’ve yet to release the distribution outlets, but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out on local liquor store shelves for it.
Leonardtown’s council approved the placement of a microbrewery at the Leonardtown wharf. Â No microbrewery’s actually asked for approval yet, but the hope is that it might bring one in.
