New Distillery Opening – Tobacco Barn Distillery

Hey everyone, as most people are probably aware, St. Mary’s County, Maryland in the past couple years has progressively been changing the laws to allow for the opening of distilleries and craft breweries in the county.  Tobacco Barn Distillery, supposedly off of Hollywood Road somewhere, I believe may be the first distillery in the county to actually begin operations as described on their facebook page. They do have a website up, http://tobaccobarndistillery.com/, but it’s still pretty barebones.

The details on the distillery seem pretty sparse, I assume because the aging required by the liquors means they won’t be selling anything for a while longer, but it’s still a pretty big event and hopefully just a hint of the future expansion of the brewing/distilling industries in the county.  Personally, I’m pretty excited to see what happens in the next couple years.  With craft beer and liquor, especially of the style seen in places like Richmond, VA, comes things like more events, more actual food trucks, and more of a general formation of a ‘foodie’ culture that brings more restaurants and better chefs.
